Ingredient

  • Green Chillies – 8-9 Thick (Bhavnagari mirchi)
  • Oil for Deep Frying

For batter

  • Gram flour (besan) – 1 cup
  • Rice flour – 3 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – 2 pinches
  • Red Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Soda Bi carb – 1 pinch
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required

For Stuffing:

  • Potatoes – 3 large Boiled
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Dry mango powder (Amchur powder) – 1 tsp
  • Carom seeds (Ajwain) – 1 tsp optional
  • Coriander leaves chopped fine – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Slit the green chillies, remove seeds and keep aside.
  2. Peel and mash the boiled potatoes.
  3. Add chilli powder, dry mango powder, carom seeds, salt and coriander leaves. Mix well.
  4. Make a thick batter with the gram flour, rice flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, soda bi carb and salt.
  5. Fill the chillies with the potato mixture.
  6. Dip the stuffed chillies in the batter till they are completely covered.
  7. Fry them in preheated oil till golden brown.
  8. Serve hot with green chutney, curd and sweet Imli chutney.
