Easy to make chocolate bread pudding recipe in oven and without oven.Traditional old-fashioned bread pudding with a magical sweet twist of chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup cream, whipped
  • 3/4 cup sugar or as per your taste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter/clarified ghee (melted)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chopped or 4 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 4-5 drops vanilla essence
  • 8-10 slices of white bread, crusts trimmed

Method

  1. In a saucepan, bring the milk, sugar, chocolate/cocoa powder  to boil over low heat until chocolate is completely melted.
  2. Remove from heat, keep aside to cool.
  3. Whisk the eggs in a bowl, stir in the vanilla essence.
  4. Slowly Combine Milk mixture with egg mixture and add cream, whisk to blend.
  5. Lightly brush a 13-by-9-inch baking dish with melted butter.
  6. Arrange the bread slices in 3 layers.
  7. Pour the chocolate sauce over the bread.
  8. Keep aside for 15-20 minutes and let the bread soak in the chocolate sauce.

Chocolate Bread Pudding in Oven

  1. Preheat oven to 325° F or 180 degree C.Set the baking dish in a deep baking pan filled half with water.
  2. Bake the Chocolate bread pudding uncovered for 40-45 minutes or until set.
  3. Check with a knife of toothpick until it comes clean.
  4. Remove and let it cool for 15 minutes.

Chocolate Bread Pudding in Pressure cooker

  1. Add water in the cooker about 1.5 inch above from the base of the pudding pan. boil water in the cooker.
  2. Place a wide steel bowl upside down in the water.
  3. Place the chocolate bread pudding pan on it.
  4. Cover the lid of the cooker tightly and remove the whistle.
  5. Steam the pudding in the pressure cooker for 20 to 25 minutes or until set.

Chocolate Bread Pudding without oven

  1. Boil required amount of water in a broad pan/vessel 1.5 inch above from the base of the pudding pan.
  2. Place a wide steel bowl upside down in the water.
  3. Place the chocolate bread pudding pan on it.
  4. Cover with a lid, steam on a medium flame for 25 to 30 minutes till the chocolate bread pudding is set.
  5. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream/Vanilla custard/Vanilla Icecream (optional).
